midterm

Posted by Jeff Allred (he/him/his) on

As promised, here is the link to the Word template you’ll use for your midterm. It’s probably a good idea to download it (button on upper left-hand corner) and edit it on your machine (you can use Pages or whatever instead of Word if you like)

  • your exam will be based on the Clausen article under etexts
  • the short answer questions are in hypothes.is and on the template (be sure to log in and select our ENGL252Sp23 group). You must enter all responses on your template; the questions are just on hypothes.is to provide some context. Do not enter anything test-related in hypothes.is
  • All instructions and links are on the template. Due Tuesday 10/10 at midnight: one letter grade deduction for exams received by Wednesday at midnight, and a zero for exams received thereafter. Upload to Dropbox via this link when finished.

Good luck and see you Thursday!

Haraway/hypothes.is for next week

Posted by Jeff Allred (he/him/his) on

For next week, you’ll read the very stimulating and strange manifesto by Donna Haraway and annotate it using hypothes.is. A couple of notes:

1. Make sure to sign up for hypothes.is if you haven’t: click on this link and follow the prompts.

2. After you’re enrolled in hypothes.is and our course group, navigate to the Haraway reading. The tools will pop up on the right-hand side and prompt you to log in with your hypothes.is username and pw:

3. Be sure to select your group in the left-hand corner of the hypothes.is popout rather than PUBLIC:
hypo group

4. Annotate away: you can highlight something and make an original comment, comment on my question/comment, or comment on a peer’s comment. Please make at least three comments.

welcome

Posted by Jeff Allred (he/him/his) on

Welcome to students in the upcoming term. We will use this site instead of Blackboard to keep organized and share work. It is currently open to all but, early in the term, I will invite you all as “authors” so you can post; at that point, I will close the site to make it viewable only to members of the CUNY Commons.

I look forward to meeting you/seeing you in August; enjoy the summer!
