Haraway/hypothes.is for next week

Posted by Jeff Allred (he/him/his) on

For next week, you’ll read the very stimulating and strange manifesto by Donna Haraway and annotate it using hypothes.is. A couple of notes:

1. Make sure to sign up for hypothes.is if you haven’t: click on this link and follow the prompts.

2. After you’re enrolled in hypothes.is and our course group, navigate to the Haraway reading. The tools will pop up on the right-hand side and prompt you to log in with your hypothes.is username and pw:

3. Be sure to select your group in the left-hand corner of the hypothes.is popout rather than PUBLIC:
hypo group

4. Annotate away: you can highlight something and make an original comment, comment on my question/comment, or comment on a peer’s comment. Please make at least three comments.

Welcome to students in the upcoming term. We will use this site instead of Blackboard to keep organized and share work. It is currently open to all but, early in the term, I will invite you all as “authors” so you can post; at that point, I will close the site to make it viewable only to members of the CUNY Commons.

I look forward to meeting you/seeing you in August; enjoy the summer!

This is just to welcome new students to the course. We’ll start in earnest on Thursday via Zoom. In the meantime, peruse this site, check for the email I sent earlier this week for links to: the syllabus, readings, a brief survey, and Zoom links, and get ready to work hard and learn a lot this term.

If you’re curious, you can learn a bit more about me here.
